William Pennell Stocker

Captain William Pennell Stocker, D.S.C. (5 August, 1892 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of architect and surveyor William W. Stocker, Esq..

Stocker was promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 15 January, 1913.

Stocker was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1914. He was appointed to the light cruiser Galatea from Drake on 30 March, 1915. He would see action in her at the Battle of Jutland, where she was flagship of the First Light Cruiser Squadron.

He was awarded the Ogilvy Medal for the year 1917, having placed first in qualifying examinations for Lieutenant (T).

Stocker was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1922.

Stocker was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1927.

Stocker was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 30 January, 1939.
