The Twelfth Cruiser Squadron, also known as Cruiser Force G from 1914 to 1915, was a cruiser formation of the Royal Navy.

When World War One broke out Cruiser Force G was responsible for patrolling the Western Approaches to the English Channel in conjunction with the Deuxième Escadre Légère and in particular making sure that ships entering and leaving were subject to stop and search. Admiral Wemyss was specially selected for the command for his 'knowledge of and sympathy with' the French. Although no formal co-operation arrangement had been agreed prior to the outbreak of hostilities, it was quickly agreed that Cruiser Force G would operate under the overall command of the French Second Armoured Cruiser Division, which would share the patrol, and that the two units would cover their respective sides of the Channel.[1]
