Richard Nigel Gresley

Rear-Admiral (retired) Richard Nigel Gresley, R.N., Retired (15 March, 1850 – 11 September, 1928) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Gresley was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 23 September, 1873.[1]

Gresley was promoted to the rank of Commander on 1 January, 1887.[2]

Gresley was promoted to the rank of Captain on 13 May, 1893.[3]

Gresley retired at his own request on 1 April, 1902.[4]

Gresley was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on the Retired List on 1 April, 1905. He attended an Admiralty conference in late June, 1910 regarding the fitting out of Armed Merchant Cruiser.[5]

Gresley died near Winchester in 1928 of a cancer that had developed from an old appendectomy scar.[6]
