Horace Victor Silk

Commander (retired) Horace Victor Silk, (28 November, 1889 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in London, the son of Dr. J. F. W. Silk.

Silk was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1911.

Silk was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1919.

On 12 March 1924, he was admitted to Plymouth Naval Hospital to be treated for an inguinal hernia on the left side.

In February 1926, Silk was appointed in command of Herald upon joining, to be in charge of surveying.

Silk was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 1 January, 1934.

World War II

Appointed to the Hydrographic Department on 7 September, 1939.
