H.M.S. Skate was one of sixty-two "R" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1916-17.
Service
She reduced to Reserve Complement at Portsmouth on 12 March, 1920.[8]
She next commissioned on 16 November, 1926.[9]
Skate was the only one of the sixty-two units in her class to survive to World War II, and she served until late in 1944.
In June of 1933, her bell was one of about 100 surplus bells announced as being for sale at prices ranging from £1 to £10. Preference would be given to those offers from men with a special consideration in the bell in question.[10]
