Service
In June, 1906, she was flagship for the Third Cruiser Squadron,[7] flying the flag of Rear-Admiral Sir Hedworth Lambton.
Leviathan was designated as flagship of the Fourth Cruiser Squadron on 20 April, 1909. Rear-Admiral Arthur Murray Farquhar's hoisted his flag in her five days later.[8]
In December, 1912, she was part of the Sixth Cruiser Squadron.
In December, 1914, she was flagship of the First Cruiser Squadron.[9]
Torpedoes
In 1904, in a competition to investigate how rapidly submerged tubes could be fired four times sequentially, starting with the tube loaded and the bar out, the ship's crew was able to do this in 6 minutes, 40 seconds. The best time was achieved by Cressy at 50.75 seconds, though times of 3-5 minutes were more typical.[10]
