Service

On 18 November, 1917, K 1 collided with K 4 off the Danish coast while the flotilla was cruising in line ahead in company with the scout cruiser Blonde. Her damage was enough that it was decided to scuttle her to preclude capture, though no lives were lost.

Her commander, Charles Stuart Benning was acquitted of blame in the matter in a Court Martial held 16 January, 1918.[7]
