H.M.S. Griffon was one of twenty-four "B" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy — a "30 knotter".

Service

Griffon arrived at Malta on 2 February 1904 in company with six other destroyers.[8] In early July 1905, she returned to Malta from Corfu with ten other destroyers.[9]

On 14 January 1907, she and seven other "River" and "30 knotter" T.B.D.s. of the Second Destroyer Flotilla arrived in Portsmouth from Sheerness.[10]

In mid-1913 she was with the Seventh Destroyer Flotilla, a patrol flotilla.[11]

On 6 September 1916, Griffon collided with a drifter, and Lieutenant-in-Command Baker was told to exercise more care in future.[12]
