Edmund Francis FitzGerald

Commander (retired) Edmund Francis FitzGerald (25 April, 1888 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy. His last name might well have been Fitzgerald.

Life & Career

Born in R.N. Hospital, Esquimalt the son of an Inspector General, seemingly of R.N. Hospitals.

FitzGerald was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1910.

FitzGerald was appointed in command of the destroyer Scout on 24 May, 1918.

FitzGerald was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1918.

He was appointed in command of the destroyer Vortigern in November, 1920.

FitzGerald was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander on 3 November, 1929.

World War II

FitzGerald was promoted to the rank of Captain on 15 February, 1941.

Reverted to the Retired List on 15 June, 1946.
