Ambrose Maynard Peck
Vice-Admiral (retired) Ambrose Maynard Peck, D.S.O., (24 October, 1877 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Peck gained a generous ten months time on passing out of Britannia in July of 1893 and proceeded to his first appointment in the Hood in the Mediterranean, lasting from August to October, 1893. He was next appointed to the second class battleship Nile on 13 October 1893. He was loaned to Tribune for the manoeuvres of summer 1897 and then appointed to Thrush at the Cape of Good Hope on 14 June, 1898.[1]
Peck was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 June, 1899.[2]
Peck was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1911.[3]
Commander Peck was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 114 on 24 January, 1912.[4]
Great War
Peck was promoted to the rank of Captain on 21 April, 1917.
He was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Diana on 29 September, 1917.[5]
Curiously, Peck was also appointed in command of H.M.S. Swift on 1 October, 1917, remaining in her through the end of the war.[6]
Post-War
He was appointed in command of the battleship Benbow in April 1926.
Peck was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 23 February, 1928 and placed on the Retired List the following day.[7]
Peck was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 1 November, 1932.[8]
