Rear-Admiral William Lindsay Jackson, D.S.O., R.N. (15 July, 1889 – 12 August, 1962) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Brenwood[?], Essex, the son of W. M. Jackson, Esq..[1]

He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1910.[2][3]

From the outbreak of the war to 29 November, 1914, Jackson was gunnery officer in the first class protected cruiser Gibraltar. He was then engaged at H.M.S. Excellent until being appointed as Gunnery Officer in the monitor Prince Eugene on 2 August, 1915.[4] He served in this capacity until 28 October, 1918, being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1918.[5][6]

Jackson was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1929.[7][8]

World War II

Jackson was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 25 June, 1940.[9]

He served as the R. N. Attaché at Ankara, vice O'Donnell, leaving for there at the end of November, 1941.[10]

He reverted to the Retired List on 21 April, 1947. In 1949, he received permission to proceed abroad.[11]
