Fate: Scrapped

H.M.S. Victorious was a British battleship of the Majestic class, launched in 1895 and sold for scrap in 1922. She was the third warship of the Royal Navy to bear the name.

Service

Victorious was inspected by the Controller of the Navy, Vice-Admiral Sir John A. Fisher, on 6 October, 1896.[7]

Victorious commissioned at Chatham on 8 June, 1897, Captain Edmund S. Poë in command.[8]

Recommissioned at Devonport on 2 August, 1911 for work with Third Fleet.[9]

Distinguishing Signs

In March 1914, an order decreed that the ship was to carry two red bands on her after funnel,[10] but this order was rescinded within the month and she was to retain her present markings.[11]

Radio

As of 1901, she was slated to receive a "1 to 52" W/T set.[12]
