H.M.S. C 13 (1907)
Pendant Number: I.43 (1914)
C.13 (mid 1915)[1]
Builder: Vickers[2]
Launched: 9 Nov, 1907[3]
Sold: Feb, 1920[4]
H.M.S. C 13 was one of thirty-eight "C" class coastal submarines completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

The torpedo gunboat Hazard left Portsmouth under the command of Lt. Algernon Henry Chester Candy on 6 February 1908 for Barrow, where she was to find C 13 in order to convoy her back to Portsmouth, calling at Plymouth en route.[5] I can find no clear record of her first commander owing to the spotty recording of such seemingly casual assignments.

C 13 left Sheerness on 25 April, 1914 to make her way to Harwich to resume her duties with the Sixth Submarine Flotilla.[6]

She stayed with the formation when it was re-designated the Second Submarine Flotilla in December, 1916.

In September or October 1918, she joined the Third Submarine Flotilla on the East Coast of England.
