Admiral SIR Arthur Mostyn Field, K.C.B., F.R.S., Royal Navy, Retired (27 June, 1855 – 3 July, 1950) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Field was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1875.[1]

Field was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1889.[2]

Field was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1895, aged forty years and three days.[3]

Flag Rank

Field was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 26 May, 1906, vice Barrow.[4]

Field was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 22 July, 1910, vice Durnford.[5]

On the occasion of King George V's coronation he was appointed an Additional Member of the Second Class, or Knight Commander, in the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 19 June, 1911.[6]

He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 24 August.[7] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 4 June, 1913.[8]

His son, Midshipman T. M. Field, was killed in the loss of H.M.S. Queen Mary at the Battle of Jutland on 31 May, 1916.
