Admiral Armand Temple Powlett, Royal Navy, Retired (17 March, 1841 – 22 January, 1925) was an officer of the Royal Navy. His son of the same name was born in 1884 and also served in the Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Reverend Percy William Powlett.

Powlett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 8 August, 1860.

He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 4 April, 1870.[1]

He was appointed to the Asia on 1 August, 1891,[2] in command of the Steam Reserve at Portsmouth in succession to Captain Markham. On 25 January, 1892, he was appointed Captain Superintendent of Sheerness Dockyard.[3]

Powlett was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 January, 1894.[4]

He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 3 March, 1900, vice Cardale.[5] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 22 February, 1870, he was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 17 March, 1901.[6]

Powlett was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 16 June, 1904.[7]
