Arthur William Turner
Engineer Rear-Admiral Arthur William Turner, C.B., Royal Navy (29 August, 1859 – 30 October, 1928) was an Engineering Officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Turner was the son of the Rev. George Turner. He was educated at Kingswood School ("Kingswood") in Bath.[1]
He was appointed Engineer Commander in Engineering Charge in HMS King Edward VII on 25 January 1908, in which ship he was promoted to Engineer Captain.
He was promoted to Engineer Rear-Admiral on 12 November 1912.
Following his promotion, Turner served on the staffs of the Commander-in-Chief, Home Fleets, and the Commander-in-Chief, Devonport.
His last appointment was to H.M.S. President (dated 9 May 1916), "for revision of [the] Steam Manual."
He was placed on the Retired List on 27 August 1917.
He was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 1 January, 1913.[2]
