H.M.S. Rifleman was one of twenty destroyers of the Acorn class.
Service
In mid-1913, active with Second Destroyer Flotilla.[6]
In December, 1915, Rifleman transferred to the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean, remaining there until being ordered home in February 1919.
On 8 March 1916, Rifleman collided with a trawler. Lt. Cdr. Bowles's services in dealing with the aftermath were commended.[7]
Reduced to C. & M. Party at Portsmouth on 17 October, 1919.[8]

- Lieutenant-Commander Richard M. Welby, 6 February, 1918[20] – 30 April, 1919[21] (replacing the ill Alexander Leslie Fletcher, and in command of a group of T.B.Ds. from 28 March, 1919)
- Lieutenant-Commander Hugh B. Wrey, 6 May, 1919[22][23] – 17 October, 1919[24] (and in command of group of ships in reserve in Devonport)
