Captain (retired) Lionel John Olive Lambart, D.S.O., R.N. (16 July, 1873 – 1 June, 1940) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born the son of the Early of Cavan.

Lambart was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in October, 1895.

Retired at his own request on 1 October, 1903. Lambart was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) in July, 1913.

Lambart was granted the acting rank of Captain (retired) on 31 December, 1915.

Lambart was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) in recognition of war services, dated 11 November, 1918.

World War II

Lambart was killed in the loss of the yacht H.M.S. Grieve on 1 June, 1940 as she was participating in the evacuation of Dunkirk.
