H.M.S. Topaze was the first of four third class cruisers of the "Gem" class completed in 1904 and 1905.

Service

In mid-1913, Topaze was serving with Third Fleet.[8]

She paid off at Portsmouth on 7 October, 1919.[9]

Dates of appointment are provided when known.

Alterations

In October 1914, the ship was to be given 6 Pattern 1582 Electric Radiators to warm cabins whose stoves could not be used for heating them.[36]
