Adding Images
The best "wiki markup" for adding an image to a page in most situations is;
[[File:Example.jpg|thumb|right|Caption text.
Photograph: Example source.]]
- "File:Example.jpg" is the image you've uploaded.
- "thumb" creates a box around the image, into which a caption can go.
- "right" aligns the image to the right-hand side of the page. One can also use "left", to align the photo to the left, or "center".
- "Caption text." The caption should be as brief as possible.
- "Photograph: Example source." This indicates the original source of the image, where known. The
creates a new line.
The first photograph of a person on an article about them should go at the top of the page. Others should go in the relevant section. For example, a photograph of Admiral of the Fleet Sir Henry B. Jackson as a Captain would go in the "Captain" section of the article. If, however, there wasn't a photograph of him in the article, it would go at the top until a later photograph could be found.
