Richard Webb

Admiral Sir Richard Webb.

Admiral SIR Richard Webb, K.C.M.G., C.B. (20 July, 1870 – 20 January, 1950) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.

Webb wrote to Colonel Hankey on 28 May, 1915:

This is a war of extermination not one of platitudes about Business as Usual. The best way of protecting our trade is by beating the enemy. If we don't do that there won't be any trade to protect.

Webb was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 3 September, 1918, vice Dumas.
