John Harris Cobby

Commander (retired) John Harris Cobby, (11 October, 1877 – 4 May, 1941) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Cobby was a Gunner serving in the aircraft carrier Vindictive when he was specially promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in recognition of services during operations on Belgian Coast on 23 April, 1918.[1]

Cobby was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 23 April, 1926.[2]

Cobby was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Commander on 11 October, 1932.[3]

World War II

Some service, but the man was in poor health. He suffered a coronary thrombosis at Gibraltar in November 1939.[4]
