Lieutenant Frank Alan Rothera (7 April, 1889 – 2 August, 1918) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Rothera was promoted to the rank of Midshipman on 15 September, 1905.
Rothera was promoted to the rank of Acting Sub-Lieutenant on 30 January, 1909 and to Sub-Lieutenant on 30 March, 1909.
Rothera was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 October, 1911.
Lieutenant Rothera was in command of the destroyer Ariel in the Twentieth Destroyer Flotilla[1] when she was lost to a mine on 2 August, 1918.[2]
Rothera died along with 48 ship mates, and Ariel was lost.
