John Harris Cobby

Commander (retired) John Harris Cobby, (11 October, 1877 – 4 May, 1941) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Cobby was a Gunner serving in the second class protected cruiser Vindictive when he was specially promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in recognition of services during operations on Belgian Coast on 23 April, 1918.[1]

Cobby was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 23 April, 1926.[2]

Cobby was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Commander on 11 October, 1932.[3]

World War II

Some service, but the man was in poor health. He suffered a coronary thrombosis at Gibraltar in November 1939.[4]
