Commander (retired) Henry Dunsmure Johnston, D.S.C. (24 February, 1898 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Johnston was promoted to the rank of Midshipman on 2 August, 1914.[1] He was appointed to the battleship Vengeance in August, 1914.[2]

He was appointed to the first class protected cruiser Europa on 29 June, 1915.[3] He was awarded a D.S.C. sometime after September, 1915.

He was appointed to the battleship Hibernia on 12 January, 1916.[4]

Johnston was appointed to the Laforey Class destroyer Lark on 12 January, 1917.[5]

Johnston was promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 15 July, 1917.[6]

Johnston was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1918.[7] He was appointed to the Glorious on 22 October, 1918.[8]

Johnston was awarded the Ogilvy Medal for the year 1922 for placing first in examinations to qualify as Lieutenant (T).[9]
