H.M. T.B. 38 (1886)
Builder: J. Samuel White[1]
Ordered: April 1885[2]
Launched: 1886[3]
Completed: March 1887[4]
Sold: 27 November, 1919[5]

H.M. T.B. 38 was one of 53 first-class torpedo boats of the 125 Footer class.

Service

In 1895, she was one of six first-class torpedo boats stationed at Hong Kong.[6]

In July, 1904, complaints from Vice-Admiral Noel of the China Station about the condition of his torpedo boats and destroyers prompted a review of his assets by First Lord of the Admiralty Selborne. Within, it was noted that T.B.s 35-38 had never been re-boilered, but that they should remain functional until new boilers from J. & S. White were available.[7]

Around 1906-1907, with the issuance of torpedo boat numbers to the first of the Cricket class torpedo boats, the existing Torpedo Boats numbered 25 to 79 had a "0" prepended to their number. This vessel, therefore, became T.B. 038.[8]

She was sold at Hong Kong on 27 November, 1919.[9]
