Commander (retired) Humphrey Finch-Dawson, R.N. (20 May, 1876 – 13 August, 1916) was an officer in the Royal Navy. He entered the Navy as Humphrey Finch Dawson before changing it in March, 1903.

Life & Career

Dawson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1898.

Dawson was tried by a Court Martial in August 1899 for having allowed the gunboat Thrush to be stranded. He was reprimanded and cautioned ot be more careful in future.

Finch-Dawson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 30 June, 1906.

Court Martial on 22 September 1909 for having by default stranded H.M.S. Agamemnon. He was severely reprimanded and dismissed the ship.

Finch-Dawson was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 21 May, 1912.

In June 1914, he was lent for service with the Turkish Navy.

Finch-Dawson was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 20 May, 1916.

Finch-Dawson died in Chatham Hospital while appointed to H.M.S. Daedalus.
