H.M.S. M 22 was one of 19 "M" class monitors completed for the Royal Navy.

In 1925, she was renamed H.M.S. Medea.

Commissioned at Devonport on 28 July, 1920.[9]

She was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 25 March, 1927.[10]
