Captain (retired) Malby Donald Brownlow, (18 April, 1887 – 13 February, 1940) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Brighton, the son of A. C. Brownlow.[1]
Brownlow was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 September, 1908.[2]
During the war, Brownlow acted as navigating officer in Magnificent and Crescent before serving as navigating and first officer in Royal Arthur from February through November 1915. He later was navigating officer in Albemarle, Woolwich, Champion and Tiger, being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 September, 1916.[3]
Brownlow was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1920.[4]
Brownlow was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 18 April, 1933.[5]
World War II
Brownlow was sent to Aberdeen as D.S.T.O., but was experiencing respiratory problems. He died in mid February, 1940.[6]
