Vice-Admiral Frederick Henry Stirling (1829 – 23 November, 1885) served in the Royal Navy. Prior to some point in the 1850s, it appears he spelled his first name as "Frederic".

Life & Career

Stirling was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 29 May, 1848.[1]

Stirling was promoted to the rank of Commander on 25 March 1854.[2]

Stirling was promoted to the rank of Captain on 19 November, 1860.[3]

Stirling was appointed in command of the screw corvette Clio, and as Commodore Second Class in Command of [illeg] States from 22 February 1870, hoisting pendant on 3 September 1870. He gave up command on 16 October, 1873.[4]

Stirling was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 22 January, 1877.[5]

Stirling was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 31 December, 1881.[6]
