H.M.S. Firebrand was one of twelve Forester Class gunboats completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Ready for sea at Devonport on 18 January, 1879,[3] slated to venture first to Sierra Leone to relieve the gun vessel Boxer.[4]

Commissioned at Devonport on 6 May, 1884.[5]
