Admiral Arthur David Ricardo, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (14 September, 1861 – 11 February, 1931) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.
Life & Career
Arthur David Ricardo was born on 14 September, 1861, the second son of Mr. H. D. Ricardo.
Ricardo was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 7 September, 1883.[1]
Ricardo was promoted to the rank of Commander on 22 June, 1897.[2]
Ricardo was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1903.[3]
Ricardo was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 7 March, 1914, vice Rolleston.[4]
Great War
On 9 August, 1915 he was appointed Admiral Superintendent of Chatham Dockyard.[5]
Post-War
He was appointed an Additional Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 1 January, 1919.[6]
Ricardo was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 17 January, 1919, vice Moore.[7] He was relieved by Rear-Admiral William E. Goodenough on 1 May.[8] On 26 January, 1920, he was placed on the Retired List at his own request.[9] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 3 March, 1924.[10]
