Charles Edward Lloyd Thomas (25 November, 1876 – 19 July, 1917) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Thomas was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1899.[1]

Thomas was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1907.[2]

An appointment in command of Roebuck was cancelled in favour of Gipsy on 29 September, 1908.[3][4]

Thomas was court-martialled for stranding Fame in May 1909. The charge was proved by default and he was reprimanded.[5]

On 8 October 1910 he was invalided from command of Virago with appendicitis and sent home in S.S. Macedonian. He was fit on 17 December, 1910.

He stranded Skipjack on 2 February 1912 and the charge was found proved by default. He was superseded in command by Lieutenant Oswald Tylston Hodgson on 29 July.[6]

Thomas was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 30 June, 1912.[7]

Great War

Thomas was involved in combined sweeping operations near Shatt el Arab in late 1914.

Thomas was promoted to the rank of Commander on 25 November, 1916.[8]

Thomas was reverted to the Retired List as medically unfit on 29 May, 1917 and died on 19 July.
