H.M. T.B. 28 was one of fifty-three first-class torpedo boats of the 125 Footer class.
Construction
Like all Thornycroft 125-footers, she was built with a low "bull nose" bow that included a fixed torpedo tube that proved "totally unseaworthy" and was ultimately rebuilt with a conventional straight steam without a torpedo tube.[5]
Service
In 1895, she was one of four first-class T.B.s stationed at the Cape of Good Hope.[6]
T.B. 28 was stranded on 29 July, 1898 in Kalk Bay, South Africa while training stokers. Although she was salvaged later with some difficulty, she proved beyond worthwhile repair and was sunk as a target that December.[7][8]
