H.M.S. H 8 was one of forty-four "H" class submarines completed for the Royal Navy in the 1910s.

Service

In February 1917, H 8 commenced carrying out experiments with being towed in a completely submerged state by "Q" ship sloop Q 12. The tests were suspended when Q 12 was lost to a torpedo in the Irish Sea on 1 May.[7]

In May or June 1918, her battery was flooded. Lieutenant in Command Russell was blamed for failures in training and procedure in the event.[8]
