H.M.S. H 24 was one of forty-four "H" class submarines completed for the Royal Navy in the 1910s.

Service

In February 1922, H 24 collided with a surface ship off Majorca. She went to Gibraltar to receive repairs.[7]

H 24 was commissioned on 28 June, 1922 for service with the Third Submarine Flotilla.[8]

In mid-1927, she was one of three "H" class boats comprising Group "E" Submarines in Reserve at Portland, under the collective command of Lieutenant-Commander E. B. Clark, appointed 23 May, 1927.[9]

She was commissioned on 20 March 1928 for service with the Sixth Submarine Flotilla,[10] replacing R 10, which was being readied for sale.[11]

In early 1933, she was listed part of Fifth Submarine Flotilla.[12]

In 1934, her bell, inscribed with her name and perhaps her motto, was offered for sale to naval officers and others who might be interested, at a price between £1 and £5. Interested parties were to write the Director of Stores and were urged to include any special information which might convey the importance they attach to the bell, in light of the Admiralty's understanding that such items carry great sentimental value.[13]
