Captain (retired) Hugh Edward Holme, R.N. (15 February, 1877 – 26 July, 1940) served in the Royal Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Brighton, the son of Reverend R. J. Holme.

Holme was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1899.

Holme was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1907.

Holme was placed on the Retired List upon Cæsar reducing on 26 March, 1912.

Holme was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 15 February, 1917.

On 1 June, 1920, Holme was appointed in command of the shore facility H.M.C.S. Naden, and for the Dockyard, Esquimalt. His appointment ended on 30 June, 1921. He reverted to the Retired List on 1 July, 1921 and was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) in recognition of services rendered during the war, dated 11 November, 1918.
