U.S.S. Connecticut was one of seven Connecticut class pre-dreadnoughts completed for the U.S. Navy.
Construction
A series of nefarious attempts to sabotage and destroy the battleship occurred while she was awaiting launch. In March 1904, holes were found drilled in rivets. Just prior to her launch, a spike was found emplaced on the ways in such a position that grievous damage would have resulted had the ship slid past during launch. It was duly removed. On the day the ship was launched, a two inch diameter hole in her outer shell was discovered.
