Builder: | Yarrow & Company[1] |
Ordered: | 30/31 March, 1885[2] |

H.M. T.B. 61 was one of 53 first-class torpedo boats of the 125 Footer class.
Around 1906-1907, with the issuance of torpedo boat numbers to the first of the Cricket class torpedo boats, the existing Torpedo Boats numbered 25 to 79 had a "0" prepended to their number. This vessel, therefore, became T.B. 061.[5]
Service
On 22 May, 1890, T.B. 61 and her sister T.B. 62 were commissioned from the First Division of the Medway Steam Reserve for transfer to Halifax, under convoy by the troopship Tyne.[6]
In February, 1891, she was ordered made ready for sea at Chatham Dockyard, to be attached to the North America and West Indies Station and based at St. John's Newfoundland.[7]
In 1895, she and her sister T.B. 62 were the two first-class torpedo boats stationed at Halifax.[8]
