Vice-Admiral Arthur Kemmis Betty, D.S.O., Royal Navy, Retired (11 July, 1877 – 11 May, 1961) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.
Life & Career
Born at Southsea.
Betty was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1899.[1]
He was married on 19 July, 1911.[2]
Betty was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1912.[3]
Betty was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1918.[4]
In April 1919, Betty was appointed in command of the light cruiser Royalist.
On 1 December, 1920, he was appointed as Captain (D) of the First Destroyer Flotilla, taking command of the flotilla leader Wallace.[5]
In November 1923, he was appointed in command of the battlecruiser Tiger.
Betty was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 5 August, 1929 and placed on the Retired List the next day.[6]
Betty was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 31 July, 1934.[7]
