H.M.S. C 31 was one of thirty-eight "C" class coastal submarines completed for the Royal Navy.
Service
In February, 1910 Lt. Thomas C. B. Harbottle was admonished to be more careful after C 31 collided with the ketch The Brothers.[5]
In the Test Mobilization, she was one of seven "C" class boats comprising the Fourth Submarine Flotilla.
She was lost with all seventeen hands, around 4 January 1915, presumably to a mine off Zeebrugge.
