H.M.S. L 18 (1918)
Pendant Number: L.18[1]
Builder: Vickers[2]
Ordered: December, 1916[3]
Launched: 21 Nov, 1918[4]
Sold: Oct, 1936[5]

H.M.S. L 18 was one of thirty-five "L" class submarines completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

In March, 1925 she, L 14 and L 17 comprised Group "M" Submarines in Reserve at Portland under the command of Lieutenant-Commander Henry N. Lake.[6]

Brought to full complement on 15 May, 1926.[7]

In early 1929 she was with First Submarine Flotilla in the Mediterranean.[8]

By mid-1931, she was attached to the Second Submarine Flotilla,[9] remaining there through at least early 1933.[10] She was reduced to reserve at Portsmouth on 3 May, 1935.[11]

In June of 1933, her bell was one of about 100 surplus bells announced as being for sale at prices ranging from £1 to £10. Preference would be given to those offers from men with a special consideration in the bell in question.[12]
