Commander R.N.R. (retired) William Dixon Hopcraft, R.D., R.N.R. (13 June, 1871 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Hopcraft was born in Croyden, Surrey.
Hopcraft was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 13 August, 1906.[1]
Hopcraft was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 13 August, 1914 and appointed to the armed merchant cruiser Empress of Japan. He remained in her until November 1915 when he "ceased naval pay." His Service Record is remarkably mum from here.[2]
Hopcraft was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander on 31 March, 1919. He would be removed from the lis for non-reporting in October 1937.[3]
