Lieutenant R.N.R. Edward Robert Lingen Burton (2 July, 1896 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Born in Halstead, Essex.

On 24 July 1916, Lingen-Burton narrowly missed obtaining a first-class gunnery certificate following a 30 day course at Pembroke. He had to settle with a second-class.[1]

Acting Lieutenant, R.N.R. Lingen-Burton was appointed to the destroyer Rother on 30 November 1917,[2] possibly in command.[Fact Check] This appointment ended on 17 [some month October or later] 1918 – the writing is too faded to be sure of the date. On 18 February, 1919 he was appointed to Christopher as first officer.[3]

Lingen-Burton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 2 July, 1919 and was demobilised on 12 July. He was removed from the R.N.R. on 17 March 1921 on his re-enlistment in the Shropshire Yeomanry.[4]
