Captain Hugh Powell Evan Tudor Williams (20 July, 1874 – 15 October, 1914) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Williams was granted the Royal Humane Society's Bronze Medal and Certificate for saving live on 1 August, 1895.

Williams was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 14 February, 1896.

Williams was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1906.

Williams was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1913.

Williams was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Hawke on 1 August, 1914.[1]

He died, with all but seventy of his crew, when Hawke was torpedoed by U 9 on 15 October, 1914.[2]
