Admiral (retired) SIR Richard Victor Symonds-Tayler, K.B.E., C.B., D.S.C. (27 October, 1897 – ) served in the Royal Navy. His name on file was originally spelled "Symonds-Taylor", but was apparently corrected to "Symonds-Tayler".

Life & Career

The son of retired army Major R. H. Symonds-Tayler.

Symonds-Tayler was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1918.[1]

Symonds-Tayler was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1926.[2]

Symonds-Tayler was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1931.[3]

Symonds-Tayler was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1936.[4]

Symonds-Tayler was appointed in command of the battleship Centurion in January, 1939.[5]

World War II

Symonds-Tayler was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 2 January, 1946.[6]

Symonds-Tayler was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 30 March, 1949.[7]

Symonds-Tayler was placed on the Retired List on 15 January, 1952 and was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 27 January, 1953.[8]
