Commander (retired) Maurice William Bethell Hervey, (13 May, 1898 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Hervey served in Ocean from August 1914 to 18 March, 1915. On 9 April, 1915 he was appointed to Colossus, in which he would participate in the Battle of Jutland. On 17 February 1917 he was appointed to join the sweeping sloop Pansy, where he remained until being sent to a Torpedo Control Course at Vernon. On 12 June, 1917 he was appointed to the light cruiser Cassandra.[1]

Hervey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 June, 1919.[2]

Hervey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 June, 1927.[3]

World War II

Hervey was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Commander on 15 May, 1943.[4]

Hervey was granted the War Service Rank of Captain, probably dated November, 1918.[5]
