Commander (retired) Arthur Kimber Gregory, R.N. (18 August, 1882 – 20 December, 1948) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Merchant John D. Gregory was born in Norwood, Surrey.[1]
Gregory was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1904.[2]
Gregory was appointed in command of the destroyer Minstrel on 1 March, 1912. Oromoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1912, Gregory would continue in command of Minstrel until late 1915 and transfer to command of Martial at an unspecified date.[3]
On 4 March, 1916 when he was declared "sick." On 15 March he was admitted to Chatham Hospital for mental observation. Something serious was going on, as he was placed on the Retired List as unfit on 24 March.[4]
Gregory was admitted to Royal Naval Hospital, Yarmouth on 4 April, 1916 "as a dangerous lunatic."[5]
Gregory was promoted to the rank of Commander on 18 August, 1922.[6]
