Admiral SIR Arthur Mostyn Field, K.C.B., F.R.S., Royal Navy, Retired (27 June, 1855 – 3 July, 1950) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Field was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1875.[1]

Field was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1889.[2]

Field was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1895, aged forty years and three days.[3]

On 10 January, 1896, Field was appointed in command of the sloop Penguin, which was functioning as a survey ship. He left her on 10 April, 1899. He was appointed in command of the paddle survey vessel Research on 21 April, 1900. He was to stay in her almost four years, leaving on 13 March, 1904 and going onto half pay the next day.[4]

Flag Rank

Field was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 26 May, 1906, vice Barrow.[5]

Field was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 22 July, 1910, vice Durnford.[6] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, he was placed on the Retired List, at his own request, on 24 August.[7]
