Vice-Admiral Edward Leonard Booty, C.B., M.V.O., Royal Navy (19 May, 1871 – 8 March, 1949) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Booty was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in August, 1892.[1]
Booty was promoted to the rank of Commander in June, 1903.[2]
Booty was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1908.[3]
On 1 July, 1911, Booty was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Ariadne and also in command of a group of ships of the Home Fleet's Fourth Division.[4]
Booty was married to Emily Louisa Rawles on 18 July, 1911 at the Register Office in Paddington. On 5 January, 1912, he left Ariadne to take up command of Dryad and of the Portsmouth Navigation School.[5]
Great War
On 1 September, 1914, Booty closed the Portsmouth Navigation School. On 12 November, he was appointed in command of the armed merchant cruiser Otway.[6]
Post-War
Booty was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 19 February, 1920.[7]
Booty was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 1 February, 1921. He would spend the 1920s working as a Nautical Assessor.[8]
Booty was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral in August, 1925.[9]
